I made some real progress towards getting things ready for my trip to San Antonio today. I messaged everyone from San Antonio to see who all was going to be in town and see who wanted to grab a meal and catch up. It looks like I’ll be busy while I’m there catching up with my friends. I am basically having at least one meal with friends each day, and I think on Tuesday I’ll be having three, though I’m not quite sure yet.

I also messaged my friends still in town to see who wanted to hang out today. I got Brandon, Josh, David, and Fails in for Magic and Munchkins. We had a legendary time playing Munchkins and dying every few rounds and being dicks to each other. We also went through a few games of Magic which were all pretty good. Each game had its own moments. Like when Brandon was closing to dying with his Res deck, because he kept drawing cards while I had Underworld Dreams out. It was beautiful. After we went through a few matches and stuff we hit up Buffalo Wild Wings for some dinner and listening to David’s dream about the crossover between our two D&D campaigns. It was an epic tale that I could not do justice here, though I’m thinking we should run that campaign some time next summer. We also agreed that over winter break we’ll do a week long D&D session where we go from 1st to 20th level. We are all going to look up and create our best, favorite character of all time for this. I’m excited; I’ve been researching all of the different variants on rogues and what I can do with them.

After we had basically finished with our games and dinner and everything, we all started talking about the world and things going on and everything that we were doing. And we got on the topic of architecture, and so I had to explain to Josh what architecture was and how it actually had meaning in the world. It was a long difficult discussion trying to get across the ideas behind it without having real architecture readily available to show him.

I decided that I wanted to interact with people today, so I messaged my friends to see who all wanted to see a movie. Josh replied and was in, Brandon said he was “tired” which I don’t buy (it was 8 o’clock, no one is tired at eight), and Fails didn’t message me until we were actually in the movie. So Josh and I saw the Expendables 2 and talked about XCOM. That’s right, I saw it again, and it was worth it. Like I said before, the movie is great for what it is, shit blows up and they make jokes about their acting pasts.

After the movie, I dropped Josh back off at his house and then I decided to take a drive to clear my head some. I drove around for a while and just listened to the radio until I felt content enough to be able to get some sleep tonight. People complain that I’m wasting gas whenever I say that I take a drive to clear my head, but then I just reply with all of the other things I could do to clear my head and all of the crap they do. Shuts them right up.

Today wasn’t that eventful, though I did manage to clean up my room some and get in some conversations with some of my friends about things going on. I also keep getting emails from the university saying that I have somehow not filled out the forms properly for one thing or another. This is getting annoying. I already did the days of seminars for the study abroad, I filled in the paperwork and everything months ago. Why am I getting these complaints only a couple weeks before I leave? It gets really frustrating some times, because I am the one who gets them the information as soon as possible and I know that there are other people who are giving them their stuff at the very last minute.

Besides my frustrations with the organization of my university, I have been compiling movies that I would like to watch while in Italy while I’m working on my projects. So far I have a lot of the classics and some of my favorite staples. I don’t think my studio will enjoy the weekly movie marathon of Lord of The Rings though.

After my one drunken night, I haven’t had so much as a taste of any alcohol. This crossed my mind because I was thinking of having a rum and coke some time, but then I decided against that because of the residual feelings from the last time. It wasn’t very pleasant. Oh well, maybe I’ll have a beer some time before I go to Italy, kind of a fair well beer.

So today was eventful in the fact that I actually did some things instead of just relaxing with Fallout 3 and classic movies. I started looking at movie listing and seeing what all was out so I could maybe see a movie tonight. Well I saw that Expendables 2 had come out, and I had wanted to see that so I decided that I would catch it by myself. Well as I’m starting to get ready for the time I had picked to see it, Robert calls and I have to talk to him. This was a good thing, I like hearing from him, though some of the things talked about weren’t so good for me. We touched on his work and his teaching for the coming semester, but then we started to talk about the rest of my family and what they were up to. Alex is in a serious relationship with his girlfriend and starting to shop for a ring and he got the job he had applied for or whatever and is getting ready to take the bar. Ian is going to propose in September some time and then probably get married the next summer. And Meg is applying for day time hours at her job that she likes. Add all of that to what I’ve been going through and feeling and we get a fairly big pit in me at the moment.

It’s not even about her anymore, it’s about where I was and how I felt in life. I felt I was where I should be and was actually starting to feel how I should feel about life. All that goes away and then half of my family is at the point I was at all in the blink of an eye. I want them all to be happy, but their happiness was planned poorly with some of my misery.

So that lowered my spirits for the evening, but I still went out to go see the Expendables 2. It was a really good movie that I think everyone should see. It won’t push boundaries or be an award winner for anything that big, but it does exactly what it should. The movie brings together basically every big action star in the last few decades and then goes “you know, we have all of these stars that people know, let’s just have fun with this!” Which is exactly what they do. They make jokes about everyone’s past: Terminator jokes, Die Hard jokes, they even had freaking Chuck Norris jokes! What more could you ask for in an action flick like this one? They blow stuff up and make funny jokes.

After the movie I grab a quick meal at IHOP to finish off my night, and then went back home to get some rest for the coming week.

I kept up with my usual activities for the day. I played some solid hours of the new Kingdom Hearts game, the plot is interesting, though I could do without the whole weird time changes. I kept up with that and my Fallout exploits for the rest of the day. I feel it was a day well spent. And with this post, I am caught up.

Today is D&D day! Been looking forward to this actually since I get to play in this campaign and not just run the damn things. Don’t get me wrong, I love running it all, but occasionally I do like to whip out my rogue and go stab some people and steal their shit. Well the game didn’t start until later, so as people arrived late as always, we played Munchkins to kill the time. It was also the longest game of Munchkins I have ever played because we all kept screwing each other over. There were a number of times where multiple people could have won the game, but someone screwed them over with one thing or another.

We finally made it to actually playing D&D after about two hours so we continued to plot on how to assassinate the elf woman. We had plotted for a combined total of forever when we actually got to the night of the party where we were going to kill her. We had planted one person as a chef so we could poison her food and drink, two as waiters (myself included) who could keep watch and maybe deliver poisoned food, we had one of our own as a guard on watch, another who was a druid who was in the party who would change into a snake and bite her if she ever went to the bathroom, a guy with a poisoned condom so he could poison her after seducing and getting a blow job, another guy in there just to keep watch and be free in case something happened, and then a warforge fitted with about a ton of alchemist’s fire. We had everything covered if ANYTHING happened. So we wake up the day of the party and get things ready before we head out and do our job.

At this point in the night though we were hungry so we all decided to go to BJs for dinner. It was a good choice because we could all get what we wanted to eat and have good conversations while we eat. We finished dinner off with two pizookie party platters that we all devoured. It was a great meal, even though it took about three hours to finish.

So after dinner we make it back to my house to finish out the assassination on the high elf woman. It was all pretty crazy because she told all of the males to fight to be her “mate” which actually worked in our favor if Chase won. Chase won after David took a fall for him and we were all getting ready for the blowjob of death when I served the elf a drink of poison wine. I didn’t think it would work, but I wanted to keep doing my job. She took it though, so we had twenty seconds to get the hell out of there before she croaked. So we all went into the basement to hide and then we blew up our warforge and leveled the place, thus ending the quest and our night.

Not quite sure what happened today, but I’m going to think it was nothing besides my usual, though I have been watching movies that are all really good. I started with Die Hard and am moving my way through all of the different action classics since I already watched all of the romantic comedies known to man. It really gets me pumped up to see it all because I’ve either never watched most of the action staples or saw them in bits and pieces or saw them a long time ago. Add all of that to me listening to Two Steps From Hell and I think I’m going to be having a pretty action packed week.

Tomorrow is the final chapter of John’s D&D campaign for a while until we all get back from college or see each other again. Tonight though we made it to IHOP and had one of our usual derp sessions there with pretty much everyone. It was a good time with some good company.
